Drs Sanduk Ruit and Geoff Tabin are Genius 100 visionaries and co-founders of the Himalayan Cataract Project. Their mission is to restore eyesight to people who are unnecessarily blind.
The Gift of Sight Campaign is intended to raise $3 Million USD to continue to provide education and services to visually impaired persons – as well as strengthen and grow eye care systems (education and training) in low resource settings around the globe. To date, HCP, working with its local implementing partners has:
● served more than 1.6 million people annually through examinations and basic treatment, including the provision each year of over 123,000 sight-restoring surgeries and hundreds of training opportunities for eye care personnel.
● has performed over one million sight-restoring surgeries, screened, and provided basic treatment for over 12 million people, trained 18,000 eye care professionals from 43 countries.
The goal of this campaign is to raise the funds necessary to make possible what seemed impossible for people in need.
• 24,000 sight restoring surgeries over 3 years
